About BMC Engineering

Size and structure

Located in Robertville, Florida, South Africa, BMC Engineering occupies a total of 2200 square meters, with premises that have been specially adapted to the manufacturing of stainless steel tanks.

This includes a pit, 6 metres deep, which assists us in building silos in an upright position and a door that is 7 metres wide for large-diameter silos to exit the factory.

Our equipment includes mobile cranes, automatic welding machines, guillotines and bending brakes – all of which are rigorously maintained.

Company history

BMC Engineering was founded in 1981 and initially based the business in Chamdor. In 1992, our existing premises in Robertville, Florida, were purchased and in 1996 BMC acquired the adjacent stand. Our second premises were completed in 1997.

Our approach

Over the last three decades, BMC has developed a strong management focus on:

• Improving the tank design process to ensure consistent standards, record-keeping and quality
• Enhancing the design and drawing software used in tank design
• Managing the procurement and tracking of individual items to ensure project time keeping
• Ensuring the maintenance of traditional, ‘tried-and-tested’ manufacturing procedures and methods

Philosophy and process

BMC Engineering is committed to creating long-term relationships with clients by delivering a quality product, on time and to the required standards. For this reason, we believe in ‘planning, planning, planning’ – relying on a 6-step process that distinguishes us from stainless steel tank manufacturers in South Africa:

1. We analyse clients’ needs and design our tanks to meet those requirements.
2. On acceptance of our quotation we prepare a manufacturing drawing for clients’ comments and approval.
3. Our reliable supplier network ensures that all materials are of the highest quality and meet our stringent internal quality standards.
4. We use a procurement-tracking programme to ensure that all project items arrive timeously and correctly.
5. Our experienced staff and management ensure that every stainless steel tank is manufactured according to the approved drawings, accepted engineering practices and our internal benchmarks.
6. We plan and execute the tank manufacturing process methodically and with care. In addition, clients are invited to view our progress periodically at our factory.
